Matthew Mohr

Matthew Mohr studied dance at the Juilliard School and graduated from SUNY Purchase College in New York with a BFA in Dance and Choreography. He also completed internships at the La Jolla Playhouse and The Old Globe in San Diego. From 1993 to 2000, he was one of the principal members of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. In 2006, he participated in Martha Clarke’s workshop Kaos in New York and performed in The Show Must Go On by Jérôme Bel at the Museum of Modern Art in 2012. That same year, he created the choreography for Tom Stoppard’s Travesties at the McCarter Theater Center. He was also responsible for the choreography of Canopy, a multimedia children’s theater piece at the Stepping Stones Museum in Norwalk, which is currently on tour. In 2008, he choreographed 7 Days, directed by Geula Jeffet Attar and Victor Attar, at La Mama Experimental Theater in New York. Since 2006, Sam has directed solo performances by burlesque artist Melody Sweets, including in the production Absinthe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In 2010, he also created the choreography for her music video Slice of Heaven and continues to serve as an advisor for her recent video releases. Additionally, he directed the acclaimed performances of Ms. Rose Wood, with whom he continuously develops new acts, captivating audiences at The Box club in New York and London, and at the Vienna Life Ball. Sam has produced and created special acts and events for Sony Music, the MTV Awards, Bloomberg, Marc Jacobs, Kipling Bags, Fergie, Axe Body Spray, Valentino, Ferré, and Arista Records. He has also staged spectacular performances at the Vienna Life Ball, Wigstock, The Box, and for Bloomberg corporate events. His choreography for Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show has been featured in Europe since the German premiere in 2008.
