Vanessa White

Make-Up and Hair Design

Vanessa White began her career at the BBC, where she was responsible for make-up design on television comedies, TV dramas, feature films such as Bridget Jones’s Diary, as well as entertainment and reality shows. Her work for British television has been recognized with numerous awards, including a BAFTA and three Royal Television Society Awards, alongside many other nominations. In addition to her television work, she has frequently taken on theatrical assignments, such as for All About My Mother at the Old Vic Theatre in London.

With her boundless creativity and skill, Vanessa has specialized in bringing characters to life using a combination of make-up, wigs, prosthetics, false teeth, colored contact lenses, and any other tricks that come to mind. In some of her earlier productions, all she had to work with were glue and tape to create her characters, but for her designs for The Rocky Horror Show, she employed more sophisticated technical methods… although a bit of tape still couldn’t be completely avoided. Her goal is to design looks that emphasize the show’s quirkiness, while creating a new, unique, and captivating design for each of her characters. She is delighted to have rejoined the creative team for the current tour, tasked with giving the show a completely fresh make-up design.
